College of Engineering Karunagappally
Government College of Engineering Karunagappally (CEK) is a premier public institution of engineering and technology, located in the serene town of Karunagappally, in the north-western region of Kollam district, Kerala, India. Established in 1999 by the Government of Kerala, CEK is the second engineering college in Kollam district and the fourth under the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD).
The college is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), approved by AICTE, and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA)—a testament to its commitment to quality education and academic excellence.
Since 2012, the institution has also been a part of the World Bank-aided TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme) under the Government of India, further enhancing its educational infrastructure and opportunities for students.
CEK is also known for its exemplary student-led initiatives. The IEEE Student Branch at CEK has brought global recognition to the institution by becoming the first and only student branch in the IEEE Asia-Pacific Region to win the IEEE MGA Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award for five consecutive years. It is also the second engineering college in the Kerala Section to receive the prestigious IEEE Region 10 (Asia-Pacific) Exemplary Student Branch Award.

IEEE SB CEK
IEEE Student Branch College of Engineering Karunagappally (STB03951) is one of the pioneering student branches in the IEEE Kerala Section. The branch was officially established as a recognized organizational unit on 13 May 2009.
Since its inception, IEEE SB CEK has been a powerhouse of student-led innovation, technical excellence, and impactful community engagement. The branch is a recipient of several prestigious global awards, a testament to its outstanding contributions to the IEEE mission. Our vibrant community of volunteers has not only made their mark at the regional and national levels, but also proudly serve in various global positions within IEEE, reflecting the leadership and passion that define our student branch.
In 2010, IEEE SB CEK took a significant step towards inclusivity by launching its Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, which continues to empower and inspire women in STEM.
With a legacy built on commitment and collaboration, IEEE SB CEK continues to be a beacon of technical empowerment, fostering future leaders and changemakers in engineering and beyond.
Today, IEEE SB CEK proudly hosts 10 active technical societies and 2 affinity groups, creating a thriving ecosystem for innovation, learning, and leadership.
